Marlys Dittman, of Prior Lake, passed away on September 30, 2017 at the age of 84. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with prayers and reflections at 11:00 AM. Services will take place at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation in Prior Lake. Marlys will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 12:35 PM.
On July 26, 1933, Marlys Lucille Benson was born to parents Curt and Ethel Benson. Marlys was one of seven children, and she loved growing up in Prior Lake. She was in the first class that graduated from Prior Lake High School. After school, Marlys met and married the love of her life, Earl Dittman. They exchanged wedding vows on September 7, 1957. Earl and Marlys settled in Prior Lake to raise their children, Jim, Vicky and Bob.
She led a quiet life. Marlys enjoyed the simpler things in life, and was happiest at home. She loved sitting on her deck and enjoying the outdoors with her dogs. She was a tough woman and never complained, but instead worried about what she could do for others. Marlys loved her family deeply and treated everyone with kindness.
Marlys will be remembered always by her children, Vicky Dittman and Bob (Brenda Vandervort) Dittman; grandson, Jeff Benson; sister, Darlene Lilleskov. Marlys is preceded by her husband, Earl Dittman; son, Jim Benson; parents, Curt & Ethel Benson; siblings, Virgil Benson, Gladys Novak, Dale Benson, Audrey Peterson, Lorraine Fideldy.
