Marlys Mae (Oldenburg) Richardson

Marlys Mae Richardson (Oldenburg), of Chaska, was called home to her Lord on November 26, 2011. Born October 18, 1935, she was 76 years young. Raised in Lydia, and graduating Jordan High School, she went on to work various factory jobs, the latest being Det-Tronics in Eden Prairie. On January 10, 1956, she married Franklin Richardson and between the two, they changed the lives of many. She enjoyed card playing with family and friends, motorcycling and traveling. Although Marlys was never blessed with the birth of children she had an influence on many. Marlys took in many children throughout the years. She became a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. All of which she did not take for granted and neither did those that she cared for. She was a great story teller, a keeper of family records and a caring individual.

Marlys is survived by her loving husband Frank and the children she raised, Cindy (Donald) Hall Chaska, MN and Sheila (Ray) Hormann, Norwood Young America, MN. Her influence was felt by Ginny (Greg) Davis, Stewart MN, Katrina Oldenburg (friend, John K, Chief) of Kansas City MO, Nigel (Robin) Oldenburg, Brownton, MN and Virgil Oldenburg, Kansas City, MO, Her Grandchildren include: Justin Duran (friend Stacy) of Colorado, Jeramiah (Elizabeth) Duran of Kansas City MO, and Joshua Duran (friend Lindsay) of Chaska. She has one Great granddaughter-Jasmine Gail Duran of Arizona. She has three remaining siblings Marvin (Mytrle) Oldenburg, Elmer (Marion) Oldenburg and Ronald (Sherrie) Oldenburg. Special individuals will also miss her deeply, Elizabeth Harris (mother of Jasmine). She will be missed many other family, friends and honorary grandchildren.

Visitation for Marlys will be Thursday December 1 from 4-8 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan and also Friday December 2 from 10-11 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jordan. Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday December 2 at 11 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jordan. Interment Spirit Hill Cemetery, Jordan.
Marlys was met at her final destination by her parents Verne and Clara Oldenburg as well as her siblings; Ruth (Bill) Seurer, Lyda Oldenburg, Clarence Oldenburg, Virgil (Kathleen) Oldenburg, Lawrence and Vernon Oldenburg. Her other children that will greet her are Rachel Adams, Doug Oldenburg and In-law Jim Roberts.
