Martha Dorn

Martha Dorn, age 92, of Spring Lake Township, MN, passed away on June 8, 2024 at Ebenezer Ridges Assisted Living in Burnsville, MN.

A Christian Funeral will be held at Noon with a Visitation from 10:00 – 11:45 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church, 20200 Fairlawn Ave, Prior Lake, MN 55372. Rev. Dr. Brent Parrish will preside. Martha will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Prior Lake, MN.

Martha Lucinda was born on December 21, 1931 to Donald and Lero (Palmer) Pond on the family farm in the river bottoms of Shakopee, MN. The eighth of nine children, Martha grew up in a large family. During her childhood, the family moved down to Florida for four years before traveling back up to Shakopee. Soon after, Martha was united in marriage to LeRoy Dorn in 1948 at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church in Prior Lake and began her own family, blessed with two children, Leo and JoAnn.

Martha stayed home on the farm with LeRoy to raise her children. Together, they farmed for many years until building a home in Spring Lake Township in 1964. Martha was a school bus driver for Blumberg Bus Company for ten years before shifting her career path, owning and operating Martha’s restaurant for three years. She then took a job as the head cook for Prior Lake School District and remained there for 13 years until her retirement.

Martha loved crocheting and embroidery, baking, and spending time in her garden, tending to the flowers and observing the birds. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also able to travel following her retirement, cherishing trips with LeRoy and later on with her brothers, Allen and Ed. She loved her Alaskan cruise, visiting the Panama Canal, and relaxing on the beach in Hawaii.

Martha’s faith was of utmost importance to her, and she stayed a long time active member of Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a past member of the LWML (Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League).

She will be greatly missed by her children, Leo Dorn (Karen Seifert) and JoAnn (Bruce) Gallmeier; grandchildren, Lance (Tammy) Dorn, Scott Dorn, Travis Gallmeier (Yia), Ryan (Evelyn) Gallmeier, and Tony (Caren) Gallmeier; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara Pond; brother-in-law, Loren Stier; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Martha will be reunited in heaven with her husband, LeRoy Dorn; grandson, Steven Gallmeier; parents, Donald and Lero Pond; siblings, Marcus (Maria) Pond, Vernon Pond, Leroy (Lucille) Pond, Esther Ackman, Philip (Mary) Pond, Allen (Rolane) Pond, Edward Pond, and Irene (Leon) Finkel.
