Marvin’s Story
Marvin H. Oldenburg age 92 of Prior Lake, passed away on Friday, June 15th.
He is survived by wife, Myrtle (Pool) Oldenburg,; children, Marilyn (Ken) Scheffler, Jeannette (Julian) Miller, Jim Friedges, Dale (Mary) Oldenburg, Bonnie (Roger) Grapper; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by daughter, Jeanne Friedges and parents.
Marvin was born August 14, 1919 in Lydia, MN. Marvin was married to Myrtle Pool on August 28, 1942. They farmed to 52 years then after selling their farm they built a new house overlooking Fish Lake. Marvin was very active in clubs and organizations including:, Scott County Commissioner 12 years, Spring Lake Township Board, Jordan Creamery Board, Prior Lake Watershed Board, Fish Lake Sportsman Club, Soil and Water Conservation Board, Prior Lake Loins Club, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Council, Metro Council and the Farm Bureau Board. Marvin and Myrtle loved to travel and spent 16 years of their life wintering in Texas. He was a devoted fisherman and loved to spend time on the lake. In later years he enjoyed reading, taking care of his birds, gardening and taking care of their flowers.
