Maryann Siedow

Maryann Catherine Siedow, 90, of Shakopee, passed away on Thursday, October 7th, 2021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at the Church of St. Mary’s in Shakopee at 11am. A Time of Gathering will be held prior from 9:30-11am.

Maryann was born on October 20th, 1930, to Leo and Anna McGovern. She was born in East Chicago, Illinois, but spent most of her early years in Glencoe and Shakopee. She attended and graduated from Shakopee High School in 1948.

After her graduation from high school, Maryann started her career at the Scott County courthouse. While there, she worked for various departments, ending her career in the administrative office. While she took some years off of work to focus on her family, she spent nearly 30 years working for Scott County.

Maryann met her husband Walter Siedow shortly after high school and the pair were married in 1951 at the Church of St. Mary’s in Shakopee. The pair were blessed with 5 wonderful children. The most important part of Maryann’s life was her family. Fortunately for her, she was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren to love and to spoil. Maryann loved to share her love of reading and sweet treats with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking walks with her dogs and exploring the trails in northern Minnesota.

Faith was a very large aspect of Maryann’s life. She never missed Mass, which is quite impressive considering she walked to church. She was proud to be a part of the Rosary Society, the Fire Ladies, and was a Eucharistic minister.

Generous, quick-witted, and quite the spitfire, Maryann will be missed by her children, Shannon Seurer, Ed Siedow, Dan Siedow, and Joe (Tamera) Siedow; grandchildren, Lance Siedow, Ashley (Mike) Manthe, Alicia (Kevin) Blanchard, Colin (Betsy) Dusterhoft, Luke Siedow, Danielle (William) Johnson; great grandchildren, Nate, Aliyah, Mason, Madon, Kailey, Bexton, Merrick, and Iver.

Maryann is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Siedow; son, Mark Siedow; grandson, Nick Siedow; daugher-in-law, Barb Siedow; parents, Leo and Anna McGovern; brothers, Leo “Pat” (Audrey) McGovern and Terry (Peggy) McGovern.
