Maxine Taxdahl

Maxine Gladys Taxdahl, 97, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away in her sleep in the company of family on November 19, 2023.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11AM with a Time of Gathering starting at 10AM, all at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 3611 N Berens Rd NW, Prior Lake, MN. A private family interment will be held at Woodville Cemetery, Waseca.

Maxine was born on June 10, 1926, to Carl and Bertha (Winz) Mueller in Tyler, MN. Maxine graduated from Elkton High School in Elkton, South Dakota, as one of 18 in the class of 1944. Shortly after graduation she moved to Minneapolis and started work at National Tea Co.
In late 1950 she was set up on a blind date with Archie Taxdahl. They married on September 1,1951 in Minneapolis and enjoyed 59 years together before Archie’s death in 2011. They eventually moved to Waseca, MN, where Archie would establish, with Maxine’s help, a State Farm Insurance Agency.
In addition to raising four children, Maxine was very active at Grace Lutheran Church, held numerous part time jobs and faithfully served as an election judge.
Maxine and Archie spent 40 years travelling all over the United States in a motorhome. They had a host of wonderful experiences and made many friends along the way. On those travels, and at home, she enjoyed playing cards. She even taught her grandkids how to play Rummy 500.
Later in life, Maxine enjoyed painting. Her subjects were mostly scenes found in nature, but she also did some beautiful ceramics which will provide a lasting memory for her family.
Maxine will be remembered as a spitfire with great spirit and a quick wit-all of which will provide her friends and family with many smiles and chuckles as they
remember her.
Maxine is survived by children: Janet Jezior, Joyce (Tom) Hansen, Jeff (Wenda) Taxdahl, Jon (Diane) Taxdahl. Grandchildren: Zandra Jezior, Mara (Cameron) Jezior, Alex (Sarah) Hansen, Nathan Hansen, Katie Hansen, Jacob Taxdahl, Olivia Taxdahl, Benjamin Taxdahl, Ellie Taxdahl, Jack Taxdahl. Great grandchildren: Max Hansen, Elena Hansen.
Maxine was predeceased by husband Archie, parents Carl and Bertha Mueller, siblings Richard Mueller, John Mueller, Marie Wiskur, and Louise Wiskur.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.
