Melvin "Mel" Rogers, age 83, of Jordan, passed away peacefully on June 29,2024 at The Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine. Mel will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on September 27, 2024.

On June 2, 1941, Mel E. Rogers was born to parents Madeline Weaver and Melvin Rogers Sr. in Quincy, MA. He grew up in New Hampshire. and graduated from Dover NH High School in 1960. Mel opened up many Cafes on the east coast. He had a passion for cooking. It was a beautiful art for him. He could create a work of art by opening up the refrigerator. Breakfast was his all time favorite meal to cook. Many people would ask for special recipes, and Mel would give them most of the recipe and hold on to his few secret ingredients. Mel was famous for his seafood chowder, grapenut custard, his ooey gooey Brownies, and countless other dishes. He loved football and was a huge Patriots fan. Mel eventually warmed up to the Minnesota Vikings as well. Mel was always so warm, full of hugs and ready for a good laugh. Mel was always a giver, not a taker.

Loved and forever missed, mel is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kerry; children, Chris Rogers, Sherry (Ken) Pidgeon,Tanner Rogers, Mike (Angela) Dabu, Tyler (Kelsey) Dabu; grandchildren Elizabeth Pidgeon,Thomas (Kaitlyn) Pidgeon, Chloe Rogers, Celina Dabu, Joselynn Dabu, Kaiden Dabu, Maliya Dabu, Lilliana Dabu, Joseph Dabu and Alexandra Dabu; and brother Douglas Rogers.
