Michael Edward Pothen, of Burnsville, passed away suddenly the evening of December 12, 2016 at the age of 73. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a gathering time from 10:30 – 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Michael in Prior Lake. Deacon Dick Roy will preside, and Michael’s nephew, Mike, will act as urn bearer. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed by Michael’s family in his honor.
Michael was born on June 13, 1943 to parents Edward and Helen Pothen. Michael was a member of the United States Army, he proudly served his country in Germany.
Michael enjoyed working on motorcycles and cars, collecting firearms and antique planes. An artistic man, he enjoyed oil painting, pen and ink drawing, and was an avid movie buff, enjoying Star Wars and Sci Fi movies in particular.
Following his military service, he worked in the warehouse and managed distribution for Montgomery Wards. Michael also worked for the North Star Auto Auction where he enjoyed transporting and driving cars.
Mike valued his privacy and a lived a simple, quiet life. He will be remembered as a kind man with a good sense of humor. Mike enjoyed a personal relationship with his redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Michael is survived by his sister, Beverly Gold; niece and nephews, George (Michelle) Gold, Michael (Laurie) Gold, Gretchen (Brad) Hircock, Mathew (Stacy) Gold. Michael was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Edward and Helen Pothen and brother-in-law, George Gold.
