Mickenzy Rae Segler, age 18, was just beginning to experience life, when she was taken from her family suddenly, due to a car accident, on the snowy Tuesday evening of March 18, 2014. Friends will be able to greet Mickenzy’s family, on Friday, March 21, from 3-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 104 West First Street, Jordan and starting at 9:30 am at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 22 at 11 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 313 East Second Street, Jordan. Father Timothy Yanta will preside. Mickenzy will be laid to rest next to her great-grandparents, at St. Michael’s Cemetery, in Prior Lake, MN. Memorials are preferred to the family.

On an early snowy Thursday evening, of January 25, 1996, in Shakopee, MN, Mickenzy was born to parents Greg Segler and Milissa Jeurissen. Weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces, she entered this world with a big bright smile on her face. This contagious smile always beamed through the years, as Rae talked with you. Life for her was filled with fun, friends, family and adventures. Rae was all about sporting camouflage fashion, holding a shot gun in her hand and gracing everyone with her wonderful personality.

A love for the outdoors, Rae enjoyed all the Minnesota seasons. Summers she spent countless hours with family, sitting in a boat and casting her line in the water. If she was not in a boat, Rae was swimming and tubing with friends. She also enjoyed many precious family camping trips. During the winter, Rae loved snowmobiling with parents and hanging out with the boys in the fish house. She treasured the time spent at her grandparent’s farm, learning the processes, in hopes of someday running the land. She loved cutting trees and brush, to create new ATV trails. She lived for the outdoors.

Over the last few years, Rae has become an exceptional shooter. At the early age of 10, she experienced her first deer hunt, received her permit at the age of 12 and shot her first deer at 16. A year ago, Rae joined the Jordan High School Trap Shot and excelled even more with the competitions. She loved big trucks, loud pipes and singing and dancing to country music. Rae truly enjoyed the many friendships she acquired over the years, especially the friendship of Zach Kohout. It was her family, which always held a special place in to her heart, particularly the closeness of her brother, Brent and sister, Abby.

Rae had endless dreams and much more of life to live. She was hoping someday she would be a dental hygienist and be able to help people. She dreamed of living the country life as a wife and mother. In her short 18 years, Rae touched so many lives with her compassionate, caring and protective heart. She was a beautiful young lady, with this easy going, friendly and genuine personality, for all walks of ages. Rae expressed herself through poetry, drawing, cooking and baking.
