Myrtle Oldenburg, a resident of Prior Lake, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the age of 91. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, from 4-7pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jordan. Funeral Service will be Monday, February 23 at 11am with visitation from 10-11 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Reverend Jeremy Glowicki will preside. Interment will be at Spirit Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory Scheffler, Kelly Scheffler, Brandon Grapper, Jesse Miller, Jeremy Friedges, Jason Friedges and Tony Oldenburg.

She was born on March 12, 1923, in Farmington, Minnesota to Eulalia and Calvin Pool. She was the youngest of three children.

Myrtle married Marvin Oldenburg on August 28, 1942 in Lakeville, Minnesota. They lived on the farm for 52 years and raised five children: Marilyn, Jeanette, Jeanne, Dale and Bonnie.

They later sold the farm and built their house on 10 acres overlooking Fish Lake.

Myrtle was an active volunteer in organizations such as the Prior Lake Lioness Club and the Prior Lake Lion’s Club. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan.

Myrtle and Marvin loved to travel, and spent 16 years of their life wintering in Texas. She loved to spend time on the lake, playing cards, and sewing. In later years, she enjoyed watching the birds, and taking care of her flowers.

Forever loved, Myrtle will be deeply missed by her children, Marilyn (Ken) Scheffler, Port Clinton, Ohio; Jeanette (Julian) Miller, Belle Plaine; Jim Friedges, New Market; Dale (Mary) Oldenburg, Jordan; and Bonnie (Roger) Grapper, Prior Lake; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; daughter, Jeanne Friedges; parents, Eulalia and Cal Pool; sister, Dorothy (John) Ryan and brother, Frank Pool.

The Oldenburg family is served with care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Services, Jordan Chapel.
