Nancy’s life story
Nancy Lee Reyes
Born in Minneapolis, MN on Thursday, June 16, 1949, Thomas M. and Betty J. (Howell) Boice proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Nancy Lee. The younger of two children, Nancy grew up in Richfield with her brother, Steve. Through her younger years, Nancy treasured traveling to each state with her family. Nancy was a graduate of the Class of 1967, from Richfield High School.
During high school summers, Nancy spent many hours at the Richfield Pool. This is where she knew of a young man named Ronald Reyes. Finally on December 31, 1964, he asked Nancy out on a date. With Ron’s persistence a friendship was formed over the years. Leaving for Vietnam, they wrote letters and their love for each other grew. Exchanging wedding vows on May 15, 1971 at Richfield Methodist Church in Minneapolis, Nancy and Ron settled their roots in Minneapolis. They were blessed with three beautiful sons, Joe, Tony and Juan. Moving to Elk River for a few years, back to Bloomington in 1981 and then to Prior Lake, where the family eventually bought Ron’s family home place in 1998.
Most of Nancy’s career was spent working for 25 years with B.F. Goodrich. But her proudest years were spent being a wife and mother. She relished every aspect of raising her children. Nancy was a strong supporter and advocate of their school and sporting activities. Serving on boards, committees and associations, she took a great interest in the boy’s activities. Nancy also loved seeing her boys each school day as they passed by her in the lunch line at Five Hawks School.
As a family, they spent countless hours enjoying the water. Most Sunday’s were spent on the boat fishing, water skiing and creating memorable moments. With a cooler filled with pop and one filled to the top with sandwiches, they left early in the morning and did not return until sun down. In 2004, Ron suffered a stroke. Nancy took up the game of golf to help Ron in his rehabilitation. She became the biggest supporter of the game, and as a family enjoyed many rounds of golf, filled with laughter, smiles and joking along the way.
Nancy was a woman who constantly gave of herself to others. A great listener, a giving heart and a brilliant mind, she unconditionaly loved everyone. The late evening of Monday, October 16, 2012, with her loving family at her bedside, Nancy was greeted by the angels, at the young age of 63. A resident of Prior Lake, she will be sadly missed for lighting up the room.
Deeply missed and truly loved, Nancy leaves behind her devoted husband of 41 years, Ron; loving sons, Joe (Devin) Reyes of Lonsdale, Tony Reyes of Chanhassen and Juan (Jodi) Reyes of Mayer; grandsons, Jose` and Marco Reyes; brother, Steve (Gerrie) Boice; special cousins, Carole and Jon Flynt and Sue and Hal Boggan; other loving relatives and loyal friends. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents.
