Norm Pint, of New Prague, passed away January 12, 2025, on his 74th birthday. He left the world peacefully in his sleep and in the comfort of his home. He lived a life dedicated to his family, community, and law enforcement profession.

Memorials can be made to the Norm Pint Memorial Scholarship to support women in agriculture (South Central College Foundation; 1920 Lee Boulevard; North Mankato, MN 56003).
Norman Lawrence Pint was born to parents, Herman and Rosalia (Witt) Pint, on January 12, 1951, in New Prague. He grew up on a family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic that served him well throughout his life. As a New Prague High School graduate, Norm received a suitcase from his parents as a graduation gift, symbolizing their hopes for him to explore the world. As a gentle giant, he embodied down-to-earth qualities and an open-minded perspective, never judging others, which served him well in his life and career.
Lori Mannie and Norm were married at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Union Hill on January 26, 1974. They started farming the family homestead and farmed full-time for several years and started a family. They enjoyed fifty happy years and welcomed three children, Karl, Amy, and Elliot. As a family, they enjoyed many camping trips all over the country. Famously, these family road trips would often be accompanied by car troubles, particularly during visits to Yellowstone, creating lasting memories for the entire family.
Norm worked hard to provide a good life for his family. He always took great pride in his work, having begun his career on the family farm before serving his community as an ambulance driver and a reserve officer. In 1975, he joined the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. Norm continued to serve diligently and was appointed as the special agent in charge of Alcohol and Gambling in a newly formed department for the State of Minnesota in 1989. His retirement from that position did not mark the end of his service, as he subsequently devoted many years to the Gambling Control Board, where he worked closely with elected officials and took pride in his contributions to the shaping of alcohol and gambling laws in Minnesota.
In retirement, Norm kept busy. He became involved with the Scott County Fair, Scott County Farm Bureau and the Belle Township Fire Board for many years. He also embraced the role of grandpa. He nurtured meaningful relationships with each of his grandchildren—Bethany, Benjamin, Thomas, Jakob, Lauren, Marnie, Meredith, Luke, Scarlett, and Oakley. They were his little shadows, growing under his affectionate guidance. Throughout his life, Norm engaged in various hobbies, exploring new interests before moving on to the next. He especially loved traveling, woodworking and photography.
His legacy of love, service, and dedication to family & community will continue in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Pint; children, Karl (Heather) Pint, Amy Durand, Elliot Pint; foster son, Rick Hambrick; grandchildren, Bethany, Benjamin, Thomas, Jakob, Lauren, Marnie, Meredith, Luke, Scarlett, Oakley; family member, Brent Durand; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Rosalia Pint; parents-in-law, Robert & Phyllis Mannie; and siblings, Joseph Lenz and Mary Thomas.
