Patrick (Stretch) John Mayer

Patrick (Stretch) John Mayer, age 68 of Prior Lake, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024. A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Prior Lake VFW.

Pat grew up in Prior Lake where he spent his youth exploring nature, hunting squirrels, and training his hawks to fly high and away. They always came back though, because critters always gravitated to Pat. Charlie the crow, Barney the squirrel, Jack the dog, and the list goes on. Pat always had a kind word, and a funny name that fit his furry or feathered friend perfectly. Pat loved to fish, and most winters you could find him in his fish house out on Spring Lake, always a convenient ATV ride from Terry’s Lake Club. Well stocked with snacks, a few cold ones, and plenty of propane, Pat could stay out on that lake for weeks at a time. Not to mention his fishing adventures in Canada, and long weekends at the cabin. If you ever needed anything, Pat would be there to help, no matter the conditions. Pat was a skilled painter, carpenter and critter getter. 

Pat never married, and never had children, but he did have plenty of nieces and nephews, who all have stories of how Pat is their “favorite uncle,” because he had crazy stories, a shrewd sense of humor, and a genuine interest in whatever they had going on. 

It was never boring sitting next to Pat at the holiday table!

Pat is already sorely missed by his siblings Anne Bailey, Mary Anomalay, Jim (Nancy White), John Mayer, Amy (Andrew) Thalacker, Carol Mayer, Anthony (Nancy) Mayer, 7 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and his sweet, sweet cat Molly. 

Pat is preceded in death by his parents Jennings and Doris Mayer, as well as his brother Thomas Mayer and brother-in-law Sookdeo (Sam) Anomalay.
