Paul Berscheit, of Prior Lake, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2018 at the age of 75. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE) in Prior Lake. Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside, and Paul’s grandchildren will act as urn bearers. Paul will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 9:00 AM.

Paul Edward Berscheit was born on March 23, 1943 to parents John & Mary Berscheit. He grew up in Sauk Centre on the family farm where he developed a strong work ethic and a love of tractors. After graduating from high school, Paul was drafted in the United State Army, and proudly served our country until he was honorably discharged in 1967. After his military service, He spent many years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the same company for 36 years before retiring in 2005.

On June 14, 1969, Paul married the love of his life, Verda Speidel. Their marriage was blessed with two wonderful sons, Chris and Gary. They settled in Prior Lake to raise their family. In his free time, Paul enjoyed working on his Minneapolis Moline tractor. He loved hunting and taught firearm safety in the community. He also made a point of attending as many of his grandkids’ activities as possible. Paul attended St. Michael Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Simply put, Paul was a good man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Paul is survived by his wife, Verda Berscheit; sons, Chris (Rhonda) Berscheit and Gary (Heather) Berscheit; grandkids, Ashlyn (friend, Jack Wyman) Berscheit, Tyler Berscheit and Hope Berscheit; brother, John Berscheit; step-sister, Kathryn Schmiesing; sister-in-law, Betti Kinsella; other relatives and many dear friends. Paul was greeted in Heaven by his parents, John & Mary Berscheit and other loving relatives.
