Around the age of 12, Percy’s family then purchased the Dorn farm (his mother’s parents), where they continued the farming. When time allowed, his uncle taught Percy the craft of fly fishing. Through the years, the company seen many name changes, with the recent name of Silgan Containers. But what hasn’t changed is the employee closeness of being a family. He relished every relationship acquired. Retiring in 2005, he continued these relationships and enjoyed the monthly coffee gatherings at Perkins and attending the holiday parties.

Sitting at a table at the J and W Bar, Percy set his eyes on a young gal, Karen Eischens. Eventually, he gained enough courage to ask her out on a date and the rest is history. On October 16, 1965, Percy and Karen declared their love for each other at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, MN. They settled their roots first in Savage, where they welcomed three children, Wade, Gina and Guy. In 1973, the family bought a home in Prior Lake. As a family, they enjoyed the annual boating and fishing trips to Gull Lake. Percy and Karen in their later years, loved traveling and staying at Bed and Breakfast’s along the Mississippi River and Door County. For their 30 th wedding anniversary, Percy and Karen treasured their trip to Alaska.

In high school, Percy took a strong interest in cars. He always had nice and clean cars! One of Percy’s first cars was a 1959 Oldsmobile convertible. He was so proud of this car and was often called upon to drive dignitaries around in parades. Percy also had other interests of photography, especially of cars, trees and plants.
