A resident of Shakopee, Raymond Russell Weeks, age 57, laid to eternal rest on May 2, 2014, at Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home in Chaska, MN. Family will greet guests on Tuesday, May 6 th from Noon to 1:00pm with Memorial Service at 1:00pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home Shakopee, MN followed by a potluck reception.

On March 23, 1957 in Riverside, CA, Ray was born at the March AFB to parents Keith Weeks Sr. and Betty J. Osborn. He was the third of eight children. Growing up in Apple Valley, MN, Ray with his siblings and best friends, Kevin and Jeff, shared great times, and told those many stories to share in their later years. During his education, his extracurricular activities were track, cross country, and math league. Ray was an honor graduate from Rosemount High School.

He attended Bemidji State University, and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. He became an accountant for different firms for approximately 25 years of his career life. In 1979, he married Rebecca Johnson. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Carl, Gregory, and Amanda in Blaine, MN, then moved to Princeton, MN in 1994.

Ray has always loved watching movies and playing the Nintendo64 game system with his children. His favorite family movies to watch were Superman, Hook, The Goonies, and Angels in the Outfield. In 2007, Ray was divorced, but remained good friends with Rebecca. He was done with the accounting life, and became a newspaper carrier since. In 2009, Ray fell in love with Valerie Rasmussen, the love of his life and became engaged to her in 2012. They took their residence in Shakopee to share their lives together with family and friends. Ray always enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, especially Cribbage, and driving his PT Cruiser. He was a sports fan of the Twins baseball and Vikings football. As a new grandfather, Ray loved to visit and play with his grandson, Dylan J, and he enjoyed the simple pleasures of pizza and occasional outings to Chinese buffets with his’ and Val’s families. His favorite snacks were Reese’s peanut butter cups.

Having a great sense of humor, Ray filled our lives with laughter and compassion. He was always a wonderful man with a great positive personality and charismatic heart. He will be an angel watching over us always, and an Angel in the Twins’ Outfield.

In spirit, Ray will always be cherished and deeply missed by those he took in his heart; fiancée, Val Rasmussen; children, Carl J. Weeks of Circle Pines, Gregory I. Weeks of Minneapolis, Amanda R. Weeks of Spicer; one grandson, Dylan J Weeks; father, Keith Sr.; brothers, Keith Jr., Marty, Pat, Don, “Little” Ray; sister, Tammy; including other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Ray is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean (Osborn) Krey, and sister, Sherri O’Keefe.

Urn bearer for Ray will be his loving daughter, Amanda Rae.
