Robert “Bob” Wright

Robert “Bob” Wright, age 74 of Savage, passed away on December 18, 2022. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11AM with a visitation 1-hour prior at Trinity Church, 10658 210th St W, Lakeville, MN 55044.

On July 22, 1948 parents Clarence and Evelyn (MacDonald) Wright celebrated the birth of their son, Robert. Along with his siblings, Bob was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana. From a young age Bob enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and deer hunting.

Following his graduation from Great Falls, Bob continued his education at Portland State University earning a degree in Mathematics. During this time, he explored other areas of interest. Always thinking ahead, Bob knew being well rounded intellectually would help his career. For 27 years Bob was employed with Lockheed Companies. This career allowed him to live and work throughout North America in places such as Rhode Island, California, Montana, Minnesota, and Montreal in Canada. Bob greatly enjoyed traveling and working on new projects.

A lifelong learner, Bob spent his free time investigating new topics and building things such as telescopes and rockets. He truly had an engineer’s personality and wanted to do everything the right way. No matter the task or pastime—caring and training Mr. Bird, stargazing, or reading the Bible—Bob was always attentive to details.

On October 21, 1995 at Northwestern College Chapel, Bob was united in marriage to Lisa Petersen. They were blessed with two children, Sarah and Rachel. As a family, they loved scenic drives to visit Duluth, Lutsen, Rochester, Brainerd, and everywhere in between. Bob appreciated the fall colors on the drive to Grand Marais for salmon fishing. The family also ventured to Montana and along the Oregon coast. No matter the destination, Bob was happiest when he shared the experience with his family.

A kind and gentle man, Bob showed his love with words and actions whether it was giving flowers for birthdays, super sappy cards to Lisa, or funny daily calendars to Sarah on Christmas. He cultivated meaningful, unique relationships with his entire family. Bob’s love of photography was shared with both Sarah and Rachel. His inquisitive nature was equaled by Sarah’s as they researched and overanalyzed everything from crime & mystery shows to what breed makes the best pet cat. Rachel and Bob loved exploring anything related to space, and spent many hours watching meteor showers, and observing the moon and stars.

When Caleb joined the family, Bob welcomed having a son-in-law to fish and play chess with. In July, Bob felt blessed to receive the title of “Grandpa” with the birth of his granddaughter, Elliana.

While Bob was often quiet and serious, he had a great sense of humor. Conversations were riddled with witty retorts and goofy responses. Bob was stubborn, independent, curious, intelligent, funny, and so much more. Most importantly, Bob was a man of faith who deeply loved his family, friends, church, and community.

Bob is loved and missed by his wife, Lisa and their children, Sarah (Caleb) Anderson and Rachel Wright; granddaughter, Elliana Anvi Anderson; siblings, Steve (Kathy) Wright, Jim (Margaret) Wright, and Margaret (John) Winters; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other loving relatives.

Bob is greeted in Heaven by his parents, Clarence and Evelyn Wright.
