Ron Grossman

April 30, 1939 — January 23, 2025

Ron Grossman

Ron Grossman of Prior Lake, Minnesota, passed on January 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of Beehive Homes South Lakeville, where he resided for the past 6 months.

Ron was born to Pete and Alma Grossman in New Prague, Minnesota on April 30, 1939. He was the second youngest of eight children. He often shared the memories of working the family farm side by side with his dad and brothers. On April 26, 1958, he married the love of his life, Bev Scheffler. They started their life in Lydia raising their 5 children; Pam, Deb, Brian, Jeff and Troy.

Ron valued work ethic and was the definition of a hard worker. He spent most of his working years driving semi. Ten years of that time, weekly, he drove from Minnesota to Queens, New York. His handle was “Smoker.”

In 1979, Ron built, with his brother, Warren, and sons by his side, their forever home in rural Prior Lake, Minnesota. Ron loved time at home tending to his grass, gardens and his Allis Chalmers. He spent countless hours loving his 11 grandchildren and continued this love with his 16 great grandchildren.

To be given a nickname from Ron was a true sign of affection- and he gave these out often. He was always ready with a joke or a story and was the originator of the “Grossman Goodbye” which could last an hour standing at the front door. He loved his sweet treats, especially his wife’s apple pie and his mom’s raisin custard pie.

His family will always remember his whisker kisses, his playfulness, unrelenting love, endearing nicknames and his forever devotion to his wife and ending every interaction with his grandchildren with a “Grandpa loves you.”

Ron is survived by his children Pam (Susumu) Akatsu of Prior Lake, Deb (Joe) Buss of Prior Lake, Brian (Jody) Grossman of Montgomery, Jeff Grossman (Tracey) of Prior Lake, Troy (Carrie) Grossman of Lakeville and brother Warren (Rosie) Grossman of Shakopee, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

There to welcome him home is his wife, Bev and grandson Corey Grossman.

The family would like to share a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Beehive Homes South Lakeville who showed Mr. Ron and his family loving care and friendship.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
