Rosalyn "Rose" Scherer

Rosalyn “Rose” Scherer, of Remer, MN (formerly of Prior Lake, MN), passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 79. Rose will be missed by all who love her.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 12-1 pm, with brief closing words at 1 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. Rose will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Prior Lake.

Rose was born to Leo and Ann (Meglen) Ramponi on August 1, 1945, in Virginia, MN. She grew up in Mountain Iron, MN, where Rose graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1963. Following high school, Rose furthered her education at Minneapolis Business College, where she graduated in 1965. Rose’s career spanned many years and various businesses, with finally retiring from American Family Insurance

Rose met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Scherer, through a mutual friend. Rose and he fell in love quickly and exchanged wedding vows on June 11, 1977, in Virginia. They settled in Prior Lake to start their lives together. Their marriage was blessed with many happy years and a son, Scott.

Rose was fortunate to be able to travel with Jerry as he worked and drove his truck across the country at times. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, with even making her bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. Rose loved to cook and bake. She was most content fishing alongside Jerry and Scott.

In 2006, tragedy hit the Scherer family when Scott died suddenly in an accident. Rose and Jerry leaned on each other to get through this horrible time. Following Scott's death, Jerry retired. Rose and he left Prior Lake and moved up to Remer, MN, to spend their retirement surrounded by nature.

Rose will be forever remembered in the hearts of her siblings, Richard Ramponi, Roland (Melodee) Ramponi, Roger (Melody) Ramponi, Rochelle (Robert) Engman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rose was greeted in Heaven by her husband of 47 years, Jerry; son, Scott Scherer; parents, Leo and Ann Ramponi and sister-in-law, Margie Ramponi.
