Interment at St. Mary’s of Marystown Catholic Cemetery.

In the family home in Chaska, MN, Rose Katherine was born on September 28, 1921, to parents Jacob and Ida (Derhaag) Van Sloun. She was the oldest of four children growing up on the family farm (now part of Hazeltine Golf Course.) Rose completed eight years of education at Guardian Angels Catholic School and then continued to help back on the family farm. Rose earned extra money cleaning for families.

Rose’s best chapter in her life was being a wife, mother and grandma. A young farmer from Marystown, MN named Lambert Hennen traveled all the way to Chaska, MN to find true love! After a long courtship, they married on August 3, 1948, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. In later years, Rose and Lambert welcomed two sons, Jeff and Jamie. As a family, they enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Prior Lake. Which meant, mid-May they would pack up their winter home and travel the long 3 blocks to Green Heights area, where the Hennen family would unpack and enjoy the lake just prior to school starting. It was at this cabin, Rose entertained St Paul seminarians, for many years and formed lifelong friendships of Dick Pates, Marty Shallbetter, Bill Paron and Chuck Speiker. Upon selling that cabin, she and her family bought and enjoyed the lake cabin in Pine City, MN, for almost 10 years. As the years went on, Grandma Rose was quite proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose relished attending their events and was known as their number one fan!

Family was most important to Rose. She and Lambert spent countless hours working at the local grocery store they owned with her brother-in-law Don and his wife Jean. The store was first named “Monnens and Hennen’s Fairway” and later years, Hennen’s Fairway. When Rose wasn’t taking care of her sons, she would clean homes and in the later years, worked at Sears, where she enjoyed receiving the employee discount to buy clothes for her grandchildren.

Rose enjoyed quilting, bowling, golfing and greeting some with a small pat on the bottom. She loved talking with people on the telephone, sending specials cards, and serving others as she delivered Meals on Wheels and the Sacrament of Holy Communion to members of the Parish. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Rose was an amazing baker and chef. For over 50 years, she served families at funeral luncheons at St Michael’s. Rose enjoyed participating in the Prior Lake Players and being a member of the Catholic Aid and Golden Agers.

The legacy of Rose’s guiding light in her deep faith, caring nature and loving all, now is held in the hearts of her sons, Jeff Hennen, Jamie (Kathy) Hennen; grandchildren, Kate (Jonah) Everson, Wendy (Joe) Berry, Anne (Dave) Holmes, Becky (Paul) Busselman, Emily (Mike) Sherels; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Caden and Rayna Berry, Valerie, Quinton, Lyla and Cecilia Sherels, Bo and Billy Busselman; siblings, Marian Hennen, Donnie (Jeanette) Van Sloun, Norm Van Sloun; sister-in-law, Mary Hennen; relatives and friends.

Rose now rests in eternal life with her beloved husband, Lambert; parents, Jacob and Ida Van Sloun; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron Hennen, Rita Van Sloun, Jean (her best friend of 74 years) (Don) Monnens, Willard (Arlene) Hennen, Merrill Hennen and great-nephew, Michael Hennen.
