Rosemarie “DeDe” Lubansky

A life-time resident of Prior Lake, Rosemarie Loretta Lubansky, was 79, when she entered eternal peace, Monday, afternoon, September 1, 2014, with her family present at her home. The family will greet guests on Friday, September 5, from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 6, at 11 am, at the Church of St. Michael, 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. Father Tom Sieg will preside. DeDe will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Prior Lake, MN.

On August 22, 1935, in Minneapolis, MN, DeDe was born to parents, Frank and Margaret (Sweeney) Suel. She was the sixth of seven daughters. DeDe grew up on the family dairy farm, where she attended the Credit River School. Upon the passing of her dad, at a young age, the family then moved into Prior Lake. Dede was proud to be part of the first class to graduate from Prior Lake High School, in 1953.

Working various jobs throughout her life, most of DeDe’s career was spent in the food service division, at Continental Machine, Prior Lake School District and Mystic Lake, until retiring.

While attending a dance at the Spring Lake Ballroom, DeDe met a young man, by the name of Thomas Frederick Lubansky. Returning from the service, they made a commitment to each other and on October 20, 1956, at the Church of St. Michael, in Prior Lake, DeDe and Tom were married. Settling their roots in Prior Lake, they later built a home, on part of her original family’s farm land, where DeDe and Tom have resided for 51 years. They were blessed with three sons, Tom, John and Greg.

DeDe’s greatest joy in life has always been being a wife, mom and grandma. Family was of the utmost importance. She relished attending her children’s sporting and school events and later DeDe would never dream of missing a grandchild’s event. She spent countless years nurturing her grandchildren, as their parents were at work. Over the last 32 years, DeDe’s entire family, has fond memories vacationing Kaldahl’s Resort, Glenwood Resort and at Lake Carlosn Villas. It was here DeDe taught each of the grandchildren how to swim. She and Tom also enjoyed many trips to Florida, to watch the Minnesota Twins in training camp. But her favorite time of the year was Christmas. DeDe would spent countless hours decorating the home, shopping for presents, baking cookies and preparing the meal, for her family to enjoy. She especially loved the times sitting around the table, as a family.

Proud of her Irish heritage, DeDe loved to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, eating corn beef and cabbage. She loved giving everyone nick names, keeping a meticulous home and going out to eat. DeDe will always remain in our hearts, as a woman with a great sense of humor, a feisty personality and for the caring, loving and strong support she gave her family.

Left to honor DeDe’s life and mourn the death is her husband of 57 years, Thomas Lubansky Sr; sons, Tom (Kari) Lubansky, Greg (Sarah) Lubansky, John (Anne) Lubansky; grandchildren, Tasha (Andy) Craig, Luke, Jayme, Jenifer, Mason and Mitch Lubansky, Fritz Bergeron; sisters, Helen White, Jo (Bob) White; other loving relatives and devoted friends

Preceded in death and there to welcome Rosemarie home is her parents, Frank and Margaret; siblings, Mary Pat (Gene) Kearney, Eileen (Cy) Schweich, Betty (Bernie) Schweich and Monica Suel; brother-in-law, Bill White.

Pall bearers for DeDe will be Greg Schweich, CJ Schweich, Tom Kearney, Jim White, Sean Matthews and Eddie Ramirez.
