Ruth Fahrenkamp, age 91 of Jordan, passed away peacefully on July 30 2023.
A Christian Funeral will be held for Ruth on Thursday, August 10th at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 6th St W, Jordan. Interment Spirit Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jeremy Glowicki will preside.
On October 21, 1931 Ruth and her twin brother Rudolph were born 3 months premature on the family farm in rural Shakopee to parents Rudolph and Emilie. They both were not expected to live and were kept in a shoe box on the oven door to keep them warm! As a child, Ruth and her 5 siblings all worked hard on the farm, while still managing to find time to have fun. Ruth was a woman of deep faith and was a lifelong member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan. She was baptized through the church just one day after her birth and was confirmed there in 1946. In her younger years at the church, she spent her time singing in the church choir, and attending bible study. As she got older, she remained a faithful parishioner of St. Paul’s, and volunteered her time for many church programs.
When Ruth got older, she worked many years as a waitress in Chaska, before finishing her career at Hot Shot Manufacturing on the production line, where she retired after over 27 years. Even though she retired, Ruth never stopped finding work for herself, whether it be washing the house siding by hand, or cleaning up trash on the side of the road. She made sure to always stay busy!
Ruth also loved her family deeply, always making sure to find time for them. Though she had no children of her own, she doted on her many nieces and nephews, and made sure to visit them even as they got older. She especially enjoyed her “Craft Sundays” once a month with her sisters and nieces.
When she wasn’t with her family, she could be found working on her embroidery skills, taking a stroll around town, reading, or working in her flower gardens. She also loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and 27 countries around the world.
Ruth’s kind, generous nature and love of her family and friends will forever be missed by her siblings, Waldo Fahrenkamp and twin brother, Rudolph Fahrenkamp; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Emilie; siblings, Lorna Plekkenpol, Harvey Fahrenkamp, Gerald “Jerry” (Arlis) Fahrenkamp; brother-in-law, Ed Plekkenpol; sisters-in-law, Arlene Fahrenkamp, Betty Fahrenkamp; Jeanne Fahrenkamp; other family members.
