Sandy Hocum, of Prior Lake, passed away on September 6, 2017 at the age of 76. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation. Reverend Diana Hunstad will preside, and Sandy will be laid to rest at Spring Lake Cemetery in Prior Lake.
On March 26, 1941 Maurice and Francis Bernice Olson Femrite celebrated the birth of their beautiful daughter, Sandra Maureen Femrite. Sandy was the second oldest of five children. She loved growing up in Montevideo with her siblings, Lynn, Barb, Gail and Pam.
Sandy attended Montevideo High School where she made many wonderful friends, including the man who would later become her husband. Although, Bruce and Sandy grew up together, they only began dating after Bruce returned from his military service. They quickly fell in love and exchanged wedding vows on January 25, 1964. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Scott and Brad.
Sandy and Torch raised their boys in Prior Lake. Sandy loved being a homemaker as it allowed her to spend lots of time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and an amazing grandmother. Sandy lived a wonderful life of shopping, traveling, going to movies and spending time with her friends.
Sandy was extremely generous and caring to everyone she knew and loved. She had a quick wit and was fun to be around. As a strong woman, Sandy was known to have a stubborn streak and always lived life on her own terms. She will be remembered always by her loving sons, Scott (Lisa) Hocum and Brad Hocum; grandchildren, T.J. Hocum, Carly Hocum and Tyler Hocum; siblings, Lynn (Donna) Femrite, Barb Miller, Gail (Wayne) Loland and Pam (David) Philiph. Sandy was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Bruce (Torch) Hocum and parents, Maurice and Francis Femrite.
