Gracing this world on December 7, 1962 in Bemidji, MN, Sandy was the youngest of three children, born to parents Wayne and Eilene “Ike” (Haugen) Floura, sister Jean, and brother Tom. Her fondest memories growing up are playing with her childhood friends in the court where she resided. Sandy graduated from Bemidji High School in 1981, and went on to follow in her mother’s footsteps, earning a degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University in 1986.

In her senior year in college, Sandy met a young man named John “Jack” Freer, of Bemidji, through mutual friends. On August 15, 1987 at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji, they exchanged wedding vows and remained each other’s best friend for life. Thereafter, the two moved to the Twin Cities, where Sandy has taught second graders at the New Prague Primary School and at the New Prague Eagle View Elementary for 28 years. She had an incredible way of connecting with students – she took great pride in her work and her students’ accomplishments.

In 1992, Sandy and Jack were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Bailey. She was Sandy’s pride, joy, and best friend. Sandy loved Bailey unconditionally and supported her in every endeavor and dream.

Life for Sandy was primarily about her family –Jack, Bailey, their four dogs, and her niece and nephews, the Chambers kids, who considered Sandy a second mother. Sandy was a faithful supporter in all of her family’s activities, from sporting events to concerts to plays. She found great joy in sharing her favorite things with her family, including Disney World, burgers and cookie dough. Sandy shared with her family a great love for Disney World. She was greatly looking forward to visiting Disney on regular basis to continue her unwavering support of Bailey as she pursues her dream of becoming a Disney engineer through her upcoming internship.

Sandy was at her happiest sitting on the couch in her sweatpants, covered up in a blanket with a bowl of cookie dough, with her four dogs – Gabi, Mollie, Laci and Clover – begging all around her. Cookie dough, home made by Jack, was always a commodity in her house. She enjoyed hopping on the back of Jack’s motorcycle on a nice day in search of a new burger joint to try, where she would order a plain hamburger with fries.

Left to honor Sandy’s life and mourn the death is her husband, Jack; daughter, Bailey; mother, Ike Floura, sister, Jean (Clark) Chambers; brother, Tom (Lorie) Floura; 7 nieces and nephews, 4 great-nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and devoted friends, especially her New Prague School family.

Preceded in death and there to welcome Sandy home, her father, Wayne Floura and dog, Chloe.
