Sandy Schlechter

Sandy Schlechter, age 75, of Shakopee, MN, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Boden Senior Living in Apple Valley, MN.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Sandy on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 4:30 pm, with a gathering from 3-4:30 pm, at Ballard Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee. A light reception will follow. She will be laid to rest at a private family inurnment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

On October 17, 1948, Sandra Lee was born to Samuel & DeLoris Ingram in Minneapolis, MN. She spent her childhood there for some years before moving to Richfield, MN. Sandy met and married Ted Pahl of Prior Lake and had daughters Tammy & Pennie. After some years, they decided to part ways and she then met and married Bill Schlechter in 1969. They purchased their first home in Bloomington, MN. Soon after came the birth of their daughter Holly in 1972.

As the family grew, Sandy and Bill decided to change their pace and move to the country. They purchased an old hobby farm and lived the country life by raising pigs, gardening, canning, and fun times with hayrides and hosting an annual summer corn feed. As time went on and the girls were grown, Sandy and Bill decided to change pace again and move to Shakopee. Along came grandkids Joe, Allie & Michael.

Planning for their future retirement, Sandy and Bill purchased a seasonal home in Mesa, AZ. Once he retired, they moved there and spent the winters in the warmth of the Arizona sun. There, Sandy and Bill had many visits from family and friends over the years. Eventually along came grandkids Rylee & Xander and they decided they wanted to be closer to family, so Sandy and Bill moved back to Shakopee, where they remained. The family grew once again with the addition of their great-grandson Waylon.

Sandy held a variety of different positions during her work life. Most notably she loved working as a histology tech at Abbott NW and St. Francis hospitals.

In her free time, Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and had a passion for her grandkids and grand dogs. She loved being near water whether that was a pool or beach. Sandy’s hobbies included cooking, canning, gardening, festivals, and shopping of any kind. As a side note, she was fascinated with the possibility that aliens exist.

After struggling with long term health issues, Sandy left her family’s side too soon. A special thank you to the staff at Minnesota Hospice and Boden Senior Living for their compassionate care.

Sandy will remain in the hearts she loved the most husband, Bill; daughters, Tammy Durden (Pete), Pennie Kohls (Bruce), Holly Keith (Zach), grandchildren, Joe Will (Heather Heisse), Allie Louks (Bryan), Michael Will (Trisha), Rylee & Xander Keith, and great-grandson, Waylon Will.

Greeting Sandy home in Heaven are her parents, Samuel Ingram and DeLoris Dexter, baby sisters, Jacquilan Ann & Jodi Ann.

Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation proudly served and cared for the Schlechter family.
