Shawn Kevin King, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2023.
A Time of Gathering with closing words and prayers will be held from 10-11 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (104 1st St W, Jordan). Following the closing words, a luncheon will be held in Lewis Hall at St. John’s the Baptist (215 Broadway St N) in Jordan starting at noon.
Shawn was born in Shakopee to parents Kevin and Linda (McDonald) King on October 18, 1982. He was brought back to the family home in Prior Lake where he would spend most of his childhood. The entire family enjoyed spending time outdoors, usually on something that had 2 wheels. When he was only 3 years old, Shawn was taking the training wheels off of his bicycle. He eventually made the jump to dirt bikes and when he was old enough, to motorcycles. When he wasn’t on his bikes, the family loved to camp on land they owned up north. During their camping trips, they loved to spend time fishing. Shawn was blessed to have two wonderful children, Carter and Elijah. They were the light of his world. Shawn got to pass on his love of riding bikes and fishing onto them.
For work, Shawn was a skilled carpenter. He was not afraid to take on any job and completed them all masterfully. It could be adding on a deck or remodeling a whole house, he was able to do it all. Everyone appreciated his expertise.
A kind, thoughtful and fun-loving person, Shawn will be greatly missed by his sons, Carter and Elijah; father, Kevin (Sally) King; brother, Kristopher King; step siblings; Michelle (David) Nicolia, Mack (Joan) McDonald, Blue (Michelle) McDonald; and many other loving relatives and friends. Shawn is preceded in death by his mother: Linda King: grandparents: Audrey and David King, Burt and Helen Olson.
