Stephen “Steve” Allen Schnoor

A resident of Jordan, Stephen Allen Schnoor, age 50, received the Anointing of the Sick, as he entered eternal peace, after a short battle with cancer on Monday morning, March 24, 2014, with his family at his bedside. The family will greet guests on Friday, March 28 from 4-7 pm and one hour prior to the Memorial Service on Saturday, March 29 at 10:30 am, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 104 West First Street, Jordan. Father Orlando Tatel will preside.

On June 2, 1963, in Moorhead, MN, Steve was born to parents Don Robert and Virginia Rose (Tellinghusen) Schnoor. He was the sixth of ten children. Most of Steve’s childhood years were spent growing up in Audubon, MN. Days were filled working hard on the family dairy farm, tending to the cattle and to the crops, not leaving much time for anything else. Steve graduated from Audubon High School in 1982.

Steve proudly served in the United States National Guard for several years. He also earned a HVAC degree at Detroit Lakes Technical College. He took this degree and worked for Canterbury Park and Mystic Lake Casino, managing their systems. Steve was a dedicated and hardworking employee, who always went above and beyond the call of duty.

Introduced through his sister, Becky, Steve met the love of his life, Jeanette Wenner, with their first date on October 31, 1981. On February 11, 1984 in Kingsville, Texas, they exchanged wedding vows and later had their marriage blessed at St. John the Baptist Church in Excelsior, MN. Steve and Jeanette were blessed with three children, Stephanie, Theresa and Christopher.

One of Steve’s favorite past times was spent playing the slot machines at Mystic Lake Casino and Treasure Island Resort and Casino. He enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends and even experienced hog hunting in Missouri, with his best friend, Jimmy. Steve could also be heard cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. His life was centered on family, with them always coming first. They enjoyed hanging out, grilling and each other’s company.

A man with a great sense of humor, Steve was always making others laugh, with his way of words, smirks and that special twinkle in his eye. He always saw life in a positive manner. Steve had a huge caring heart, who would give his shirt off his back for anyone.

Deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Steve, wife of 30 years, Jeanette; children, Stephanie Schnoor, Theresa Schnoor, Christopher Schnoor all of Jordan; grandchildren, Shane, Lucas, Kaden; siblings, Don Schnoor of Belle Plaine, Rosemarie (Paul) Schettler of Virginia Beach, VA, Rhonda (Steve) Huwe of Dent, Edward (Theresa) Schnoor of Belle Plaine, Rebecca (Billy) Peters of Hawley, Theodore “Corky” (Kim) Schnoor of Hamburg, Lisa (Martin) Flaherty of Hingham, MA, Tricia (Albert) Maldonado of Atascosa, TX ; brother-in-law, Kevin Lubitz; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Steve is preceded in death by parents and sister, Kim Lubitz.
