Sue Luskey

Sue Luskey, of Prior Lake, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2025 at the age of 61.

Service information will be added as soon as services are confirmed.

Born on November 21, 1963, Sue was the youngest of three and quickly earned the title of “cutest baby,” often likened to Shirley Temple for both her charm and her curls. She grew up in Blaine. Weekends were spent at the family cabin on Round Lake and became treasured escapes filled with swimming, boating, and laughter—memories that remained her happy place throughout life.

A proud graduate of Blaine High School, Sue went on to study chemistry and biology at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. She began her career in research and development at Tiro Industries, where fate introduced her to David Luskey. Their eyes met across the lab, and Sue—never one to let a good thing pass her by—pursued Dave. They were married on April 24, 1993. Their honeymoon took them to the breathtaking shores of Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii, sparking a lifelong love of travel in Sue.

Together, Sue and Dave built a life rooted in love and adventure. They settled on a peaceful 10-acre property near Marystown in 1995. Then in 1997, they celebrated the birth of their beautiful daughter, Emily. Their next move brought them to Prior Lake, where Sue joyfully designed a home that perfectly fit their family’s needs. She delighted in the building process and in creating a haven for her loved ones.

Sue had a curious spirit and a sharp scientific mind, working in various roles at Tiro, Rocco Altobelli, Bell Industries, and Infinity Precision. She was always hands-on, beginning in the lab and growing her career through dedication and a deep love of learning.

Outside of work, Sue's passions were many: she loved vegetable gardening, spending time in nature, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings with her family. Traveling was Sue’s biggest passion. Over the years, she took many special vacations. She treasured the family road trips with Dave and Emily to the Wisconsin Dells and all around the Midwest. Sue also took many memorable trips with her sister, Pat. Dave and Sue shared a hobby of visiting local breweries—part of their many local road trips. She also had a soft spot for tropical destinations, where she would snorkel and enjoy warm weather. In recent years, Sue and Emily went on several mother-daughter trips.

Sue was known for her thoughtful nature, impeccable style (with a particular love for Kate Spade handbags), and her warm hospitality. She found joy in preparing feasts for the holidays, gathering family around music and food. She enjoyed trying her luck at Canterbury Park with close friends, and she never passed up a chance to make memories with the people she loved most. Whether it was traveling, cooking, relaxing with her pets, or supporting her family’s dreams, Sue gave herself fully—kind, sensitive, stylish, and always attuned to the needs of others.

Sadly, Sue passed away much too soon while on vacation with her daughter Emily. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.

Sue is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Emily (Nathan Juven) Luskey; siblings, Steve (Shari) Swanson, Pat (Katharine) Swanson; niece, Sarah (Dave) Hanson; nephew, Matt (Peggy) Swanson; great-nieces & nephews, Lizzy, Zach, Bjorn and Anders; other relatives and friends. Sue is preceded by her parents, Clayton & Joan Swanson.
