Thomas Fountain Hatcher was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 26, 1931, but grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Returning to Michigan as an adult, he met and married Rosemary Downs on June 23, 1956. Tom died on June 20, 2012, just three days before their 56th wedding anniversary.
Tom graduated from New York University with a degree in business management. He was a visionary, pioneering in the use of technology in training the sales force of Equitable Life Assurance in New York City. In Minnesota, Tom was the president of his own company, Futures Unlimited. He continued in the training field, facilitating many churches and non-profit organization through a long-range planning process. Tom authored, ‘The Definitive Guide to Long Range Planning’.
Tom was active in and devoted to the Prior Lake Rotary and served as president from 1997-98.
A resident of Prior Lake, Tom Hatcher, age 80, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family the early evening of June 20, 2012 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; daughters, Mary Kay (Kevin) Myrmel of Minnetonka, Roberta Hatcher of Pittsburgh, PA and Meg (James) Atkins of Frederic, WI; grandchildren, Thomas (Anat) Myrmel, Nicole, Michelle and Tiffany Myrmel.
Pallbearers for Tom will be Ev Nelson, Tom Loftus, Bob Bergeth and Kevin Myrmel.
The visitation will be on Sunday, June 24 from 4-7 pm only, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 25th at 10 a.m., at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church 4500 220th Street East, Prior Lake. Father Orlando Tatel will officiate. Tom will be laid to rest at the parish cemetery.
