Thomas “Tom” H. Remes
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Cancun, Mexico, Tom passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 11 am, with a visitation one hour prior all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Services 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN. The Prior Lake Volunteer Honor Guard will provide honors at the services. The celebrant will be Jean Breeggemann. A private family burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
On August 12, 1941 in New Prague, MN, Thomas Henry was born to parents, Leonard and Lorraine (Bauer) Remes. Graduating from New Prague High School in 1959, he than proudly served in the United States Navy. Tom married Betty Vlasak on June 16, 1962 in San Diego, CA
Tom truly loved the water, he also enjoyed history reading, photography, animals and traveling. But his true passion in life was his wife, children and grandchildren. For most of his life, Tom worked for Michelin Tire Company in sales.
Deeply missed, Tom will be forever loved by wife of 50 years, Betty of Prior Lake; son, Thomas M (Heather) Remes of Shakopee; daughter, Melissa Delk of Savage; grandchildren, Justin Delk, Benjamin Remes, Samuel Remes and Ethan Remes; brother, Dick Remes of New Prague; sister, Mary (John) Mahoney of Belle Plaine; and other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by infant son, Mark David; parents, Leonard and Lorraine; and sister-in-law, Deanne Remes. Urn bearers will be his children.
The Remes family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prior Lake Chapel.
