Troy Altman, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 20, 2025. Although he battled brain cancer for 16 years, he was truly “The Man Who Lived!” He was never the man who was dying from cancer. His legacy will live on through his wife and children.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant St. SE) in Prior Lake. A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery (Assembly Area #2). Full Military Honors provided by the Fort Snelling Honor Guard. His family asks that you wear a punny shirt in honor of Troy (brownie points for a Life is Good shirt or an old man sweater).
On February 22, 1981, Troy Arthur Altman was born in Lakefield, MN. Troy enlisted in the United State Air Force, and he proudly served his country until his retirement. During his time in the military, Troy met the love of his life, Krista. Troy and Krista fell in love and were married on August 30, 2008. They eventually settled in Lakeville, MN to raise their family. Their marriage was blessed with lots of love, laughter, happiness, and two beautiful children, Emmalynn and Colten.
Family was the most important thing in Troy’s life. He loved his wife and children deeply. Troy passed on many of his values to his kids… most importantly, a love of travel. As a family, they took many memorable vacations over the years. Some of Troy’s favorite destinations were Iceland, Paris, London, Alaska, Hawaii, Disney World, and anywhere Disney Cruise sailed.
When they weren’t traveling, Troy enjoyed spending time with the kids. Together they played video and board games, spent time outdoors, and built many Lego sets together. Troy had a wonderful sense of humor and a bright and infectious personality. He made friends easily and truly cared about those around him.
Troy now lives on in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his wife, Krista; children, Emmalynn and Colten; cats, Wasabi & Carrots; sister, Tracy (Cory) Vrieze; sister-in-law, Brit (Mikey) Allen; cousin, Rielyn Campbell; other loving family and many dear friends. Troy is preceded by his beloved cat, Loki.
