Verena (Riesgraf) Walden

Verena (Riesgraf) Walden, age 73, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away on November 19, 2024 at NorBella Senior Living in Prior Lake. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM with a time of gathering from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake, MN. Father Tom Walker will preside.

Verena was born to Cletus and Mary Riesgraf on December 1st 1950. She was the 7th of 9 children. Verena grew up on the farm in Belle Plaine, MN. She graduated in 1968 from Belle Plaine High School. 

She married and had three beloved sons. Varena raised her sons in Cambridge, MN on Lake Fanny. 

Verena held many jobs and titles throughout her lifetime, but the latter part of her career she loved serving clients and staff at Five County Mental Health from where she retired. During her retirement she volunteered at Cambridge hospital, and the Shalom Shop. She took care of her grandsons. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed more than anything spending time chatting with friends and family. Verena was a lifelong gardener and had a green thumb until her last year at Norbella Senior living taking care of the raised garden beds. 

Verena will be missed by her children, Lucas (Sasha), Cletus, and Alex; grandchildren, Bentley, Axel, Brett, and Masen; siblings, Diane Riesgraf, Avis (Ron) Lansing, Jean (Kevin) Krueger; sister-in-laws, Florence Riesgraf, Janet Riesgraf, Nancy Riesgraf; and other loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Mary Riesgraf; siblings, Justin Riesgraf, Elroy Riesgraf, Eugene (Pat) Riesgraf, Dennis Riesgraf, and Phyllis (Leroy) Kalal; and brother-in-law; Richard Quatrale.
