Walter Justin was born on November 2, 1937, in Chicago, IL, to Walter and Jennie (Zalecki) Dyrek. Raised in Chicago, he grew up surrounded by a large family. Wally attended St. Catherine’s Grade School and Mendel High School. His first job was setting pins at the local bowling alley, where he formed a lifelong passion for bowling.

After graduating from high school, Wally proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. During his service, Wally participated in the All-State Marine Corp Bowling league and on the Marine Corp Rifle Team, winning many trophies. After his honorable discharge, Wally spent most of his career in the printing industry, working at Harvester Press, Chemco and Fuji Film USA. Wally won national salesman of the year twice and retired as a field sales manager for Fuji in 2002.

Life for Wally was enriched by meeting Lorraine “Lorrie” Elizabeth Herdina. Their love story began on June 17, 1961, when they wed in Chicago, enjoying 61-years together. They were blessed with three daughters, Gerri, Cheryl, and Lisa. Family was important and countless memories were made with extended family in northern Minnesota at Forestview Lodge. There was no place on earth that he was happier than fishing on Leach Lake in his Warrior boat with a rod in his hand and family at his side. He shared his love of fishing with many as a member of the Apple Valley Fishing Group and Muskie Inc.

In his spare time, Wally enjoyed playing his favorite card game Pinnacle, photography, bowling and visiting his grandchildren in Michigan. He and Lorrie also enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, Arizona, and taking cruises to Alaska and Panama.

Forever loved, Wally will be missed by wife, Lorrie; daughters, Gerri Dyrek, Cheryl (Greg) Wunderlich, Lisa (Peter) Zolldan; grandchildren, Cole Wunderlich, Grant Wunderlich, Grace Wunderlich; other family and friends.

Greeting Wally home in Heaven are his parents, Walter and Jennie, and sister, Teresa (Del) Gibbs.
