Willards’s life story

Willard “Bill” M. Hennen

On Monday, July 9, 1928 on the family farm in Marystown, MN, Willard was born to parents, Lee and Mary (Boegeman) Hennen. He was the 3rd child of four. Willard’s childhood years were spent attending grade school and graduating from the eighth grade at Marystown Catholic School.

Willard married Arlene Stang on Saturday, February 3, 1951 at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church in Marystown, MN. They were truly blessed with seven children, Lee, Duane, Marilyn, Victoria, Dennis, Roger and Geralyn.

Willard had a passion for farming and was dedicated to Gods land. At age 10, his father died and Willard and his siblings had to help run the farm. His love for farming continued as Willard and Arlene farmed just outside of Jordan, for over 34 years. He loved to travel in his car viewing the livestock and the crops in the fields around Scott County. In 1984, Willard finally retired and they moved to town in Jordan. But you could not keep this farm boy at rest. For the next 20 years, Willard worked in security and as an attendant at Mystic Lake Casino, where he enjoyed socializing with the many people that would come and go.

If there was a group of people, Willard wanted to be part of the gathering. He treasured socializing with individuals and catching up on the latest news. Willard enjoyed baseball as a spectator and player. He played first base for the Marystown Knights and was on the team that participated in the state amateur baseball tournament.

A family orientated husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and brother. Willard had a great sense of humor and was always willing to tell you a joke. A long time resident of Jordan, Willard was greeted in heaven by his beloved wife, Arlene the evening hours of Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.

Sincerely missed, Willard will always be loved by his children, Lee (Jonelle) Hennen of Shakopee, Duane Hennen of Jordan, Marilyn (Tom) Bye of Edina, Victoria (Terry) Blackford of Woodbury, Dennis (Margaret) Hennen of Jordan, Roger Hennen of Shakopee, Geralyn Hennen Mornson of Victoria; grandchildren, Dan (Mackenzie) Hennen, Jenna Hennen, Cindy (Dustin) Steinhoff, Julia (Evan Kusler) Hennen , Anne, Mark and Colleen Bye, Mandy Krohn, Chrissy (Jeff) Lucas, Laura and Lindsey Hennen, Tanner and Nate Hennen, Kelsey (Joe) Herrgott, Alexandra and Hannah Mornson; great-grandchildren, Kate, Kylie and Carson Steinhoff, Leah Lucas; sister, Jeanette (Don) Monnens of Prior Lake; brother, Merrill (Mary) Hennen of New Market; sister in law, Rose Hennen of Prior Lake and many other loving relatives and friends.

Greeting him in heaven is his wife, Arlene who passed away on October 9, 2012; parents, Lee and Mary Hennen; brother, Lambert Hennen; nephew, Mike Hennen. Pall bearers will be Willard’s seven children.
