William “John” Plonski
William John Plonski, age 77, of Jordan, passed away peacefully the early morning hours of Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home. The visitation will be on Wednesday, July 17 from 4-7 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 104 West First Street, Jordan and one hour prior to the mass at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist 210 North Broadway Street, Jordan, MN. Father Timothy Yanta will officiate. The Belle Plaine Honor Guard will be present. John will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Friday, July 19 at 10:30 am, with full military honors provided by the Fort Snelling National Volunteer Rifle Squad.
John was born in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County on Thursday, March 26, 1936 to parents Michael and Elizabeth (Glisczinski) Plonski. He graduated from New Prague High School in 1953. John proudly served as tour of duty in Korea with the Unites States Army 1957-1958. He graduated from South Hennepin Technical in 1973. John worked for Cooperative Power Association for 20 years and Federal Package Network for 10 years before retiring in 2011.
On Saturday, July 23, 1960 in Lexington, MN John married Irene Koepp at St. Joseph’s Church. They were blessed with two sons, Donald and Tom and one grandson Ryan Plonski. John enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing cards. He was a long-time member of the American Legion #144 of Belle Plaine.
Forever loved, John will be deeply missed by his wife, Irene; sons, Donald Plonski of Jordan and Thomas Plonski of Belle Plaine; grandson, Ryan (fiancée Jamie Christophersen) Plonski of Minneapolis; siblings, Phyllis Hrdlichka of Le Center, Marge Freier of St. Louis Park, Therese (Jim) Spence of Coon Rapids, Larry (Colleen) Plonski of Belle Plaine; sister-in-law, Jeanie Plonski of Belle Plaine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Irene Koepp of Belle Plaine; Doris Koepp of Belle Plaine, Henry and Patricia Koepp of Carver; many other relatives and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Plonski; sisters, Marion (Ray) Blaha, Betty (Tom) Mangione; brothers, Michael Plonski, Joe (Bev) Plonski; parents-in-law, Walter and Helen Koepp; brothers-in-law, Clem Hrdlichka, Paul Freier and Robert Koepp; sister-in-laws, Marjorie (Reuben) Tesch.
The Plonski family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan Chapel.
