Yvonne J. Marek was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother who loved the Lord, her family, the outdoors and her home on Spring Lake, in Prior Lake, MN.
A Christian service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:30 am, with a time of gathering starting at 9 am, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. A light lunch will follow with laying Yvonne to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. To honor Yvonne, please wear her favorite color blue!
Born on February 2, 1932, in New Prague, MN to Helmer and Anna (Krueger) Krohn. She attended New Prague Public Schools. After High School, Yvonne worked at Phillips Petroleum as an Administrative assistant located in downtown Minneapolis, MN. Yvonne and Robert Marek were united in marriage at the church of St. Wenceslaus in New Prague, MN, where they exchanged their wedding vows on February 12th, 1955.
One of Yvonne’s pride and joys was living with her family in the house that Bob built for 61 years! They raised their 4 children and enjoyed their 7 grandsons at their lake home on Spring Lake (Prior Lake.) For many winters Yvonne and Bob enjoyed their retirement winters in Venice Florida. She loved walking the beaches while looking for petrified shark’s teeth. Yvonne was a master gardener and shared many plants with her sister Delores and many family members.
Yvonne was 92 years young and passed peacefully early Saturday morning, July 20th, when she entered God’s loving arms. She was a resident of Prior Lake, MN.
Loved and will be deeply missed, Yvonne is survived by her children, Ann (Larry) Hibbard of O’Fallon, MO, Doug (Sharon) Marek of Jordan, MN, Nancy (Jim) Marek of Eagan, MN, Lori (Jerry) Marek of Mound, MN; grandchildren, Greg Hibbard, Steven Hibbard, Matt Hibbard, Tim Hibbard, David Marek, Ryan Marek and Dave W.; great grandchildren, Blake, Lucas, Hadley, Rosemary, Mckenna, Isabella, Noah, Robert, and Henry.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband, Robert on May 7th, 2010; parents, Helmer & Anna Krohn; brother, Orville Krohn; and sister Delores Dvorak.
Yvonne’s family thanks the staff at New Perspective Prior Lake and Allina Health Hospice for all their compassionate care.
