Ballard-Sunder is Minnesota’s only full-service funeral home offering on-site flame cremation and natural water cremation through Reflections Crematory in Jordan. Established in 2010, our facilities are exclusively for our clients, ensuring your loved one remains in our care throughout the process. With our own crematories, we guarantee peace of mind by adhering to the highest standards at every step.

Flame V.S. Water Cremation

At Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, we offer both flame and water cremation options to suit your preferences. Flame cremation uses fire and takes 2-3 hours, while water cremation uses water and potassium over 4-5 hours. Both methods allow for pre-cremation viewing and participation in a committal ceremony, but water cremation is noted for being more environmentally responsible and gentler.

Cremation Committal Ceremony:

At Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, we understand the importance of honoring a loved one through meaningful ceremonies. Our personalized cremation experiences, including cremation committal ceremonies, provide comfort and reflection for families. Since 2010, our on-site crematory has allowed families to spend time with their loved ones and participate in prayer and reflection before cremation. Whether you choose a simple cremation, private family viewing, or public visitation, our dedicated team is here to support and guide you through every step of the process

Simple Goodbye Cremation Tribute: Time of Gathering with Urn Present

  • Provides families an opportunity to acknowledge the passing of their loved one while keeping things simple.
  • This includes a Time of Gathering at the funeral home (like an open house).

Farewell Cremation Tribute

  • Graveside Service with Urn Present
  • A simple service offering for families who do not want a full funeral service or time of gathering, but still would like to come together at the cemetery for burial.

Final Salute Cremation Tribute

  • Military Honors and Graveside Service with Urn Present
  • This offering is for families who want to keep things simple, but also want to acknowledge the dedicated and faithful service of our veterans.
  • We will help coordinate veteran burial benefits, military honors, and burial at a Veterans Cemetery.

Permanent Memorialization

Placing the Urn in a Columbarium (aka, a “niche”)

Many families find comfort in having a final resting place that they can visit.

Keeping an Urn at Home

This is a common choice and families can select the perfect urn for their loved one.

Scattering the Cremated Remains

Some families find comfort scattering the cremated remains in a place that was special to their loved one.

Burying the Urn

Similar to a casket, the in-ground burial of the urn allows for a final resting place.
